Uneventful weekend, really. George was sick (and is still sick), and I didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to. I will banish procrastination from my workspace today.

I hope.

Lots of writing to do today. I'm going to weave in and out of writing and commission work. God, I have a lot of artwork to do.

...I swear I won't be distracted by Yoshi's Island....

Maybe.

I keep saying I'm going to post and keep things up to date. And then I don't.

But I will. Yeah, I totally said it again.


Almost finished with my novel. Yeah, it's been a long five months (and it won't get any shorter when I get to editing it), but I'm excited to be so close to victory. It has been such an experience writing it, and I have to say that nothing can prepare you for writing a novel. No amount of how-to books can teach you how to write the damn thing. Yes, it can help you with plot devices, grammar, story arcs... but it ultimately comes down to you.

I'm thrilled to start book two (which isn't a sequel to number one), and hopefully by January, I'll have something I can start querying agents with. I'm not getting my hopes up... it's a long road... but ultimately this part of the journey relied heavily on me finishing a project of epic proportions. And I'm almost there. Like. Five-to-ten-thousand words-almost-there.

It was a really long drive. The first day we didn't get started because we had to fix George's back at the ER after a couple hours of driving. We ended up being there for like. 5 hours. We didn't get to our first destination until 3:30am.

We woke up the next day and ate breakfast at Fork in the Road restaurant. They had good country fried steak.

We drove all the way to San Antonio with just a few stops. Saw a lot of deer at night. Thought I was going to hit them--deer in headlights, you know.

It was misty yesterday and the day before, really foggy, but it's sunny and warm today.

Reminds me of Florida.

Going to do some grocery shopping, drop off my dad's clothes at the cleaners and look for a home to rent. :3 More later.

 Well. It's six a.m. 

The alarm is set to go off in two hours.

And then we start packing stuff into the car so we can head to Texas.

 It's such a weird predicament to need a job, but not to be able to apply for one because you know the car repo people will come find you. And everyone else for that matter. I can't believe I'm so behind. Things will get better--that's been the phrase we've said over and over for the last year. They will, they are. I think it's just a matter of continually comparing things to how they used to be. We forget how bad things can be when things get better, and smaller problems end up looking huge.

Go figure.

 It's so nice to watch George read. It's nice to sit on the couch and read a book with him. It's nice to walk out of the bedroom and see him sitting outside enjoying the day and a book. 

I know it sounds so strange, but this is the first time in the almost five years I've been with George, that he actually has taken an active interest in reading. I'm sure it's mostly because of me and my new writer mindset, but I don't care--this is something he's been talking about doing for a long time.

I have a reading buddy. <3

 Yesterday was a boat load of good stuff!

I got my first rejection letter! I know, I know, I'm pretty excited for someone who has just been rejected, but I'm just so glad to get a response, hack up my story again, and move on! A better rejection would've had some personal notes, but you know what? It's all good. I'll take a form rejection. 

My old creative writing teacher finally e-mailed me back! He was my teacher in high school, and since I moved back to Arizona (where I graduated) I thought it would be cool to say hello and see if he still remembers me after so many years. He had a lot of really nice things to say =) He sounds super busy, but hopefully I can pick up a few gems of information from him here and there >_>;

John sent me his laptop! I have it! I'm so excited! I just have to pay for it now, but YAY! :D

So. Good things. :) 

And George falls asleep. We need to go handle my storage while we're here, or they are going to auction off my stuff (again.)

I am absolutely cold! I can't believe how low the temp has dropped!

This is day 3 here in California. I'm really glad to be able to see my mom and acer facer. We drove over on Thursday and had dinner with my mom (and I got her a belated birfday caek). We stayed at George's mom's house that night, and it was so hot D:

Yesterday was pretty much chilling at mom's house. She left and went to stay with Robert for the weekend, so George, Acer and I have the place to ourselves. George has been out and about seeing people, and Acer and I went to see the new Underworld movie. It was pretty good. :3 We also stopped at B&N and got a book (I got George one too!)

The rain hasn't stopped--it started when we drove down. It's alright, I like the chill, but I'm still freezing my tail off.

I'm glad for the break from everything because I'll be able to go back home and be fresh to write!

 Held Daqueran in my hands! Smelled funny. xD It was pretty cool. I think if I was still coloring for it, it'd probably be cooler, but I'm glad I'm able to hold the finished product in my hands. Gonna send Mr. Acer the other copy :)

Did some hunting for people to do live interviews for my fan art chat, and I'm happy to say 5 out of the 8 I've chosen have expressed enthusiasm in it, and they are kickass artists! One said no, but she was entirely sweet about it, and two have yet to respond. 

I'm going to be setting up people to do workshops (Yay Melissa), but that will come later. I really want to do a huge week long event to kick off the exciting events we're going to be having. :D I feel renewed.

Can't wait to start getting some rejection slips in from all the writing I'm doing. I meant to do more this week, but with the computer borkage I didn't get to it. Did some reading though. I hope that counteracts it. ;D

 It's been an interesting time being back in Arizona. I'm glad for the change and anxious to hurry up and get my own place. Writing has taken over anything else I'd like to do, and I'm really excited at the productivity. Now, if only I could be a good writer. I've had a lot of punches to my stomach and knocked myself down a lot as well. It's good though. With writing, smack me a few times, sock me in my gut and kick me when I'm down. I don't mind. It makes my writing stronger.

Hi guys.

I've posted on this journal for about 7 years now, and it is a pretty fair collection of the stories and ideas I've had through that period of my life.  I had every intention of continuing to post on this journal, but then I realized that I've changed in so many ways, and so much in the last few months, even, that I'm just not the same person I used to be at all.

I'm not abandoning this journal entirely... I'm just not going to post here anymore. These journals and memories are a closed book, and I've moved on so fast and so far that it doesn't make sense to continue.

I have a new journal, its semi-private in that I haven't announced that I've moved to it (except to close friends), and I didn't want to say anything here until I really grounded myself over there and made sure this was a move that I really wanted to take.

If you reply to this journal, I'll add you as a friend under my new username.

I will continue logging in, if only to read posts from friends on this end. :)

Hey folkses. I think I'll be working on artwork today. I'm in #DigitalMedia (dAmn network on dA) until 4pm EST to help give critiques and stuff on peoples digital work. Drop by and get a critique if you has time. :3 My mom and I didn't go for our morning 7.5, but you know, I think I needed a break anyhow so it all works out. I'm going to be working on misskittyoooo's Daqueran today and getting a WIP/preview up for riabhach

xD I'm not being cynical. I just 'work' more on the weekends than I do on weekdays. I have a huge list of clay commissions to get to and I'm pretty excited at the things I've been commissioned to do and the people who have commissioned me. I have a lot of respect for the artwork of some of the people commissioning me, and it feels a little strange to be on the other end of the commission exchange.

I spent most of yesterday finishing riabhach 's portrait commission. Snape looks younger and Fawn looks older, so I'm going to try and rework it before I send it off. It doesn't feel quite finished yet... keehm's portraits and watercolor are all packaged up and ready to go, but I'm eager to get rid of all of this fucking Neopoints paid clay. Its been no end of headaches. Its one thing to have a commissioner pester you (which has never really happened) but its another thing for people who are getting something for practically free to agitate you repeatedly through notes. I mean, I understand I'm taking a really fucking long time, but goddamnit. xD

I colored a little lineart for misskittyoooo today of her character Daqueran from the comic.. Daqueran. xD You can see him on the right of this page
guruubii colored the vest, shirt and hair (I made teh hair shiny) and then I did the rest. It was good to finally sit at that computer and get some digital work done. (I have the OTHER computer that is across the room with my tablet and photoshop and all that on it. I rarely use it now.) So check out her comic cause its cool and its going to get really cooler and excitinger. xD

My goals for the weekend are to get things picked up around at PotterShare, get the votes tallied for the Ultimate Fandom Contests, I need to do some random Artist Relations stuff and then I'm going to color somethin' else for kitteh and start knockin' away at these damned commissions..


On an alternative note, I'm going to let you guys in on a few personal projects you'll be seeing from me that you may not have expected. I will be restarting my speedpaints and finishing 25 more for the 50 total I had meant to do. I'm also going to be drafting up my script for a manga that I had been writing, and guess what? A book that I started writing when I was 14? Well, I'm gutting the shit out of it and completely redoing it. It will be my masterpiece. But shhh. Don't tell anyone. :D

Bleh. I hate that George works so late sometimes. I hate being alone at nighttime. I get all weirded out and whatever. I think its because George always watches crime television, so I end up watching these shows about women by themselves at night time watching tv and looking in their window and seeing strange men trying to break in. Yeah.

xD Anyway. I opened up for clay commissions on dA. I have about 13 people ( maybe more, with inquiries and all) who have finalized their order and I'm pretty excited to force myself to do artwork xD I did make a huge promise to finish before April, so I'm really sticking my neck out. Kim and Melissa BOTH know how long it takes me to do commissions when I've got so much other stuff to do, but I really want to start focusing on my artwork again... this is a good start.

Egh. Resisting the urge to go watch the television. Maybe I'll clean up or something.

._. Its been raining here the past two days, so I haven't been able to get my 7.5s in. In some ways I'm relieved for the break but in other ways its just like. wtf. xD Not much going on around here. Hopefully I can get around to doing some personal work after I get these gifts done. I have like 9 kiriban portraits to do. I'm super excited to do them though! ;D On an alternative note, the last week brought me some amazing artwork!
